Oh my gosh it is so humid today! So I've decided to write a little story of my first experience with humidity. This will help those that don't understand the concept of humid weather.
Once upon a time...
I was about 10, and my cousin was getting married. I lived in Utah at the time and she was getting married in Virginia so my family flew out to see the wedding. We stayed at my Aunt's for a couple of days before going to Williamsburg where the wedding was to take place. My aunt had my sisters and I sleep on air mattresses in the basement. Now the house was always kept cool, but the basement was the coolest place of all. It's a great place to sleep on hot summer nights.
Anyway, my sisters and I went to bed the first night and slept really well, but I woke up the next morning and my pants were all wet. "Oh my gosh," I thought. "I peed my pants!" How embarrassing is that, right? I'm 10 years old for Pete's sake.
So I rush to the bathroom only to find that I hadn't peed my pants, which left me even more confused. Why was I so wet? And this happened to me every morning. I would panic, run to the bathroom, and continue to find that I hadn't wet the bed.
Only years later did I come to understand that this wet sensation was the effect of humidity. It probably didn't help that I was wearing fleece pajamas, but that's beside the point. So if you didn't know before, you now can understand what humidity is like. It is this wet, stickiness that is constantly in the air that makes you sweat even when you're just relaxing.
Fun stuff...

Summer
This summer started out rough, and continues to not be the best summer I've ever had, but today I felt peace and remembered one reason I love this season so much. Tonight after I had an interview for a job I started driving home and decided to roll the windows down. Sometimes I prefer to drive in silence because music can be too loud, no matter how turned down it is. Today, however, I decided to listen to music. I hit the 'on' button of the car radio, then hit the 'source' button intending to listen to the radio. The car radio had a different plan in mind and started playing a CD. Normally the CD player has my mom's banjo tunes in it. Don't get me wrong, I love my mom's banjo tunes but I wasn't in the mood for them. The CD ended up being a mixed CD of peaceful guitar songs. Some had vocals, some didn't, but they were all soft, quiet songs... just what I needed. So I drove home with the windows down and discovered some new music. The sun was setting, the weather was perfect, and had I not been driving I would have closed my eyes, becoming completely lost in the peaceful atmosphere.

Just a story...
Today I went to a chorus concert at my old high school. I had been told the date once or twice, but I totally forgot about it until my younger sister told me at 7:45PM that my teacher, Mr. Wagner, said I was going to be in big trouble if he didn't see me at the concert tonight that starts at 7:30. Madeline then proceeded to make me drive her home so all in all... I was half an hour late.
What I saw of the concert was great, but I mainly loved getting to see everyone again. I forgot how much I missed my high school friends. I don't miss them enough to ever go back to high school, but it was great to hug and talk to everyone.
After catching up with the high school friends I went and talked to the Wagner's. They teased me for forever about being late. They always liked how easy I was to tease and Mrs. Wagner always used this characteristic of mine to her advantage. She then proceeded to remind me that I had other reminders about the concert over the past week, including a reminder from herself, so I shouldn't have been late. This is the conversation that proceeded.
"I do remember reminding you last week about this concert so your sister wasn't your only reminder."
"I know Mrs. Wagner, but I just got a job this week so I've had a lot on my mind and I totally spaced."
"Oh, where did you find a job?"
"Ok... don't judge me."
"Where?"
"..........Victoria's Secret."
The Wagner's then proceeded to laugh really hard. Mr. Wagner started crying he was laughing so hard and Mrs. Wagner said that was the hardest she's seen him laugh in a long time. I was laughing too. It really is pretty funny that of all places I'm working at Victoria's Secret. The Wagner's said they really never imagined me at that store and I displayed what I was wearing at the time (sweat pants and a t-shirt) and said, "Believe me... I never saw myself there either."
It was nice to laugh as hard as we did. I love laughing. I guess everyone does, but I REALLY love laughing. It lifts away all worries and just makes you feel so great inside. I especially love laughing with other people. My favorite part of college was laughing with my roommates in the dorm. I miss college...
Anyway, the real point of this post is actually to talk about a friend that I saw at the concert. He doesn't go to Township, but he's in my ward and he went to the concert to see the girl that he's going to prom with. Now this is a guy who I NEVER expected to see at a chorus concert. That would be social suicide for him. But he was there. I called my mom to tell her about it and she said, "Love does that. Just wait... one day you will have someone who is so in love with you that he'll do just about anything to make you happy."
I doubt I will find this "Mr. Right" anytime soon, but the thought sure does give me a lot to look forward to. Maybe I already know him, but I'm secretly hoping that he's in London waiting to meet me when I study abroad. Men with accents are sexier anyways.

"Sure"
I understand that the word "sure" has it's place in the world, but overall I despise this word. I feel like it is used when a person really doesn't want to do something, but commits to it anyways.
Example:
"Want to make some chocolate chip cookies?"
"Sure..."
"Ok, well what would you rather do?"
Alright, it's not the best example, but you get the point. I guess it's really in the voice inflection... so I really hate the word "sure" when used in text messages. So if you are texting me please use yes or no to answer the question. Avoid "sure."

Color
My first post ever in the blogging world... I'm a bit nervous, but here goes:
I love color. I believe the first thing that you should do when you move into a new home is paint the walls. There is no better feeling than covering a boring wall with a color that will make you smile every time you enter the room. All the houses that I have ever lived in had colorful walls. The house that I lived in in Utah was full of color. I recently visited this house and found that the lady who now owns it painted the entire first floor white. It made me want to cry. She also took down all of our curtains and hung up granny curtains. I was disgusted.
My love of color doesn't stop with the walls. I love the colors of a city, especially an older one. Take Lancaster for example. Today I was walking around downtown Lancaster and I noticed all the wonderful colors. The red bricks, the green trees, the dark purple window shutters, and a gold church steeple. I was filled with peace as I walked down the street noticing all the color.
Color not only brings me peace, but it also brings me an overwhelming sense of excitement. Have you ever opened a new box of crayons? Or bought a pack of colorful Sharpies? I get so excited whenever I have the opportunity to do those things. I get even more excited when I buy a pair of colorful converse. I recently got myself some yellow converse... looking at my feet is like looking at sunshine.
Even our feelings are described best by color. While I am a huge supporter of Mac computers, the Dell company had an amazing commercial for their colorful computers. The song in the commercial is called "Colors" by Kira Willey. It's a beautiful song that shows the expressive abilities of color.
And to end my color rampage I have to say that the best color in the world is RED!
